Plant Calculators
Calculators for planning plant moves and site set-up. Each one can be filled in by hand or pre-filled from a Plant Library model, and the result can be printed.
Transport clearance calculator
Checks whether a machine can travel on Australian roads without a permit. Enter or pre-fill its travel width, height, length and weight, and say whether it moves on a low-loader or trailer combination. The calculator compares each figure with the general limits used in the tool: 2.5 m wide, 4.3 m high, 12.5 m long for a single vehicle or 19.0 m for a combination, and 42.5 t.
The result shows, for each measurement and overall, whether the move is within limits, needs a Class 1 oversize overmass permit, or reaches the width, height or length where escorts, a police escort or a route survey are likely. It lists next steps with links to the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator guidance. Open the transport clearance calculator
Ground bearing pressure calculator
Estimates the average pressure a machine puts on the ground, in kilopascals. It multiplies the weight in tonnes by 9.81 to get kilonewtons and divides by the contact area, which it works out from track width and length, tyre width and count, or outrigger pad size and count. You can also enter a known contact area directly.
The result is placed in a band from very low to very high pressure with a plain description of the ground it suits, and the page lists typical bearing capacities for common soils and options such as mats and temporary roadways when the pressure is too high. Pre-filling from a model
Every model page in the Plant Library has Transport check and Ground pressure buttons that open these calculators with that model's recorded dimensions and weight already entered. Check each figure before relying on it: library records can be incomplete, and a figure that is missing stays blank for you to fill in. Both calculators give planning estimates only; confirm permits with the road authority and critical ground conditions with a geotechnical assessment.
Find a machine to check in the Plant Library categories, by manufacturer, or with search.
